Pricing
Access to the Platform IDE is free for all users. To unlock the full potential of the Epistemix Platform, users can purchase subscriptions for our synthetic populations of the United States. Additionally, users wanting to perform long-running simulations of large populations of people will benefit from executing them on FRED Cloud. Usage of FRED Cloud is charged against pre-paid Compute Credits. Users can purchase subscriptions to synthetic populations and additional Compute Credits through the Platform Hub. See below for details of special pricing for academic users.
Synthetic population pricing¶
Users can purchase subscriptions to the US synthetic population in its entirety, or by individual region (Midwestern, Northeastern, Southern, Western), or state. Subscriptions can be purchased either monthly or annually through the Platform Hub.
Product | Monthly price | Annual price |
---|---|---|
Full USA | $17,000 | $180,000 |
USA Region | $4,500 | $50,000 |
USA State | $450 | $4,800 |
Compute Credit pricing¶
Compute Credits are used on the Epistemix Platform to run simulations on FRED Cloud. They are purchased in advance, so there is no risk of running up an unexpected bill. Users can purchase Compute Credits through the Platform Hub in the following quantities:
- 100 Credits: $100
- 500 Credits: $500
- 1000 Credits: $1,000
The rate at which Compute Credits are charged depends on the compute type requested from FRED Cloud. See this tutorial for hands-on examples of how to use FRED Cloud, including how to specify the required compute type. The compute type required for a given simulation depends on two things:
- The number of simulations runs to perform in parallel, determining the required number of cores.
- The amount of memory required to accommodate the simulations, determining the amount of RAM required. The memory requirement for a set of simulation runs depends on the size of the synthetic population used and the number of simulations to run in parallel.
The usage cost per 10 minute interval of each of the available compute types, along with the number of cores and amount of RAM provided by each type, is given in the following table:
Compute type | Cores | RAM | Compute credits/10 minutes |

Academic users¶
To support academic users we provide continued access to the full US 2010 synthetic population for free. To benefit from academic pricing, please sign up for the Platform using your institutional email address. For students and staff of academic institutions in the United States, this is your .edu
email address.
If you are an academic user and have ideas for how we could improve the Epistemix Platform to make it more useful for your research or teaching, we'd love to hear from you. Please schedule a call with one of our developers so we can better understand your needs.
