FRED Modeling Language Introduction

Welcome to the Epistemix's platform, where you'll swiftly master the art of crafting agent-based models with precision and ease! Our platform leverages FRED, a language designed specifically for the purpose of creating agent-based models.

The world presented by FRED is populated with agents. These agents can represent anything, but are often used to represent individual people. Simulations using these agents can provide a unique insight into how a particular scenario might play out were it to actually occur in the real world.

For example in a given population, agents are assigned demographic features such as age, gender, and race, and behaviors such as a work schedule. FRED can simulate the day-to-day interactions of such agents. For example, with this population, we can simulate an individual going into work for the day, or perhaps a group of students who decide to skip school and head to the local ski resort because of snowy weather!

During a simulation, FRED monitors the population dynamics that emerge from the actions and interactions executed by the agents within the simulation. In the following guides, you'll learn how to make your own models!
